Treat yourself to these foods if you’re struggling with testosterone upkeep.
Oysters
Oysters contain zinc which is important for reproductive function and sperm health. Having a zinc deficiency can lead to several issues including impotence and delayed sexual maturation. Be careful if you take supplements because you want to avoid taking too much. You can also find zinc in beans, poultry, nuts, and other shellfish.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Extra virgin olive oil has many health benefits including reducing your risk of cancer and heart disease and may also improve male reproductive health. It has been suggested to boost hormones that promote testicles to produce testosterone.
Fortified Plant Milk
Vitamin D is an important nutrient and may help increase testosterone levels. Getting enough sun may also benefit testosterone levels. Drinking milk made with soy or almonds may also help. Vitamin D can also be found in orange juice and other dairy products.
Fish Oil & Fatty Fish
High in omega-3, fatty fish is very beneficial. Taking fish oil could increase fatty acid levels and increase sperm quality and testosterone levels (based on studies done on animals). You can find omega-3 fatty acids in trout, salmon, and sardines as well.
Boost Your Testosterone
Exercise regularly, get enough sleep, and reduce stress and you may be able to increase your testosterone level naturally. If you avoid processed foods and alcohol you can also keep your testosterone levels up. Frozen and canned shellfish or fatty fish can be an excellent source of zinc on a budget, but be careful of the increased sodium levels. If possible, buy fresh produce.
