How to Store Your Jar Properly
Obviously, you’d want to make the most of your jar. Unfortunately, peanut butter can go bad, despite its long shelf life. However, there are precautionary steps you can take to make it last as long as possible.
Like many foods of similar consistency, it’s best to keep opened jars in the refrigerator. This will slow down the oxidation process. Another thing to keep in mind is to always close the jar tightly. And last but not least, don’t use dirty spoons or knives in order not to contaminate it.
How to Know if Your Jar Has Already Gone Bad
Despite your best efforts, there’s a chance your jar has already finished its service life. Thankfully, it is easy to tell though. Any change in color, smell, or consistency should be a red flag for you. Another telling sign would be mold.
Always keep an eye out and trust your gut when it comes to food. If it seems off, it’s time to put it in the trashcan.
