To ensure you make the right choices in the kitchen, we spoke with Melissa Mitri, MS, RD, a nutrition writer and owner of Melissa Mitri Nutrition, who shares seven of the most effective healthy snacks for losing belly fat.

"By customizing your diet and opting for healthy snack alternatives, you can satisfy your hunger without exceeding your calorie limit," explains Mitri. "Healthy snacks that are rich in protein and fiber can curb cravings, stabilize blood sugar levels, and boost metabolism—all of which contribute to reducing belly fat."

1) Hummus with Vegetable Sticks:

Combining fresh vegetables with hummus creates a delightful and nutritious snack. This combination offers a plethora of nutrients, fiber, and protein. If you're aiming to reduce abdominal fat, incorporating vegetables into your daily routine is a simple and effective approach. "Hummus is rich in plant protein, while vegetables provide satiating volume with fewer calories, making it a winning combination for a satisfying snack," explains Mitri.

A study conducted by Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center revealed that for every additional 10 grams of soluble fiber consumed daily, there was a 3.7% reduction in visceral fat over a five-year period. So, next time you visit the grocery store, be sure to grab your favorite hummus and choose vegetables such as sliced red bell peppers, carrots, and broccoli for optimal belly fat loss.

2) Homemade Trail Mix with Dried Fruit:

Many store-bought trail mixes are loaded with processed sugars. Mitri recommends using dried fruit instead of candies or chocolates to minimize added sugars and calories in your trail mix. 4) Apple Slices with Nut Butter:

Simply slice your favorite apple and drizzle it with your preferred nut butter. This combination provides ample protein and beneficial fats to keep you satisfied.
