While McDonald's is renowned for its burgers and fries, it's the dipping sauces that often take center stage. Many people were excited when Mike Haracz (@chefmikeharacz), a former McDonald's corporate chef who shares insider insights on his TikTok account, recently posted a video revealing how to replicate one of McDonald's most beloved sauces in the comfort of your own home: the hot mustard dipping sauce.

Haracz suggests that you should purchase two distinct sauces from your local grocery store, and when combined, they closely mimic the flavor of the renowned sauce from the chain. He points out that McDonald's sauce is essentially mayo-based. Therefore, the first item you'll require for this "recipe" is Heinz's Mayomust, which serves as the creamy foundation. This product is a relatively recent addition to grocery store shelves, blending the smoothness of mayo with the zesty kick of mustard.

While you could certainly use this sauce on your nuggets or fries just as it is, there's one more step to transform it into "a remarkably accurate McDonald's hot mustard replica." You'll simply need to incorporate a couple of dashes of Tabasco sauce, and voila, that's all there is to it!

Haracz's followers enthusiastically shared their outcomes in the comments, with one individual confirming, "I just mixed the mayo must and Tabasco and can confirm it's a perfect match."

Conversely, not everyone was equally impressed. One individual shared, "It's not quite hitting the mark for me. I mean, it's a good combination, and I like it, but it's not quite nailing the taste of McDonald's hot mustard."

A few others had their own recommendations for replicating the McDonald's sauce. One person mentioned, "Great Value Southwest Hot Mustard comes very close, and some even say it's better."

Of course, if you're not inclined to create your own hot mustard sauce, there's another alternative. As a TikTok user humorously noted, "Or, you can simply stock up on extra hot mustard packets every time you visit the restaurant and save them... but I wouldn't know anything about that. Hmmmm."

If you're interested in attempting to craft your own sauce from scratch (or nearly from scratch), numerous recipes are available. For instance, Copy Kat Recipes suggests using store-bought mustard, corn syrup, cayenne pepper, soy sauce, sugar, white distilled vinegar, mustard powder, and spicy brown mustard. You can also add a pinch of turmeric for color. Just combine all the ingredients in a bowl and thoroughly mix them. Allow your mixture to rest overnight, and voila! You've created your very own hot mustard dipping sauce.
