Seeing a spot on the skin or feeling cold all the time is easily explainable. However, these minuscule changes may be the first signs of a more severe condition.

Find out which general symptoms warrant more investigation.

Feeling Cold

If you always feel cold, you may wear an extra sweater or grab a blanket. Turning up the thermostat doesn’t seem like anything alarming. However, this sudden chilliness may herald more concerning conditions like poor circulation, anemia, or hypothyroidism.

Vertigo

Most people experience slight dizziness when they stand up too fast or forget to hydrate. The feeling usually passes after a few seconds or a few sips of water. On occasion, though, this lightheadedness is your body’s way of signaling that something is seriously wrong. The reasons can range from anxiety to brain or gastrointestinal problems.

If your dizziness is persistent or you’re experiencing nausea or vomiting along with it, call your doctor immediately.

Sudden Weight Loss

An unexplained weight change should not be interpreted as a good thing. It is a clear sign of significant health risk in most cases and is most commonly associated with cancers. If you experience a sudden change, consult your doctor.

Mystery Skin Spots

Moles, freckles, and spots are generally nothing to worry about as long as they look fairly symmetrical with smooth edges. However, unusual spots that are growing, asymmetrical, or don’t have clear borders are a cause for concern. Track your new skin growths and consult your medical professional immediately if you notice any changes. It may be a sign of melanoma.

Get in Tune With Your Body

Your body has subtle and not-so-subtle signals letting you know how it’s doing, but the worst thing you can do is ignore them. If you notice any of the above signs, schedule an appointment with your health professional.
